An experience of a lifetime….I don’t think either of us will ever forget this meal. If you’re not someone who is fortunate enough to visit Le Bernardin on a weekly or monthly basis, please save up because the tasting menu is the only way to do it. The dress code is strict and you must reserve on the 1st day of the preceding month.

NEW YORK NY
Los Tacos is one of those places that we were lucky to stumble upon on our way to another meal in NYC. The operation they were running was impressive to say the least. Corn and flour tortillas being made to order – the man was banging them out like a magician! Get the Al Pastor FOR SURE but we recommend trying everything:)

It was Katherine’s third time in NOLA and Randy’s first- she took him in a cab directly from the airport to Turkey and The Wolf- enough said. The Green Collard Melt will blow your mind! Don’t make a reso, they won’t take it.

A landmark in the French Quarter that exudes charm and history. The bar is always packed and the palm filled courtyard is stunning. Napoleon House was the Muffuletta highlight of our trip.

French 75 Blue Crab Beignets
In the heart of Uptown on Magazine Street you will find La Petite Grocery- in our opinion, the epitome of a classy bar for an afternoon cocktail, catch up and a bite. They offer a beautiful menu of classic Louisiana cuisine, so if you’re planning a meal, La Petite Grocery is also an amazing option for lunch and dinner. Our favourite?- the Blue Crab Beignets…upon our return to Canada Randy had to make them, immediately!

We walked into Justine on Fat Tuesday and had no idea what we were in for. The place is absolutely stunning- likely the most beautiful restaurant we’ve walked in to. Fancy cocktails, fancy menu, fancy people. The bartender mixed us several delicious cocktails while we enjoyed stone crab and tartare.

Easily our favourite place we visited in our short 3 days in Chicago- The Girl and The Goat lived up to the expectation. After realizing we had made our reservation for the wrong day, we showed up anyways. THANK GOD, the hostess obliged and offered us two seats at the pass- in our opinion the best seats in the house and where all the action is. Of course we ordered the Chef’s Menu, you should too. Funky food, vibrant plates and an amazing vibe. We had cocktails, we had duck tongue, we had pig’s face, and on and on. You should go, you can dress casual but keep it cool, you MUST make a reservation and we highly recommend the chef’s table;)

Elske. This was a beautiful experience. First and foremost, thanks to our dear friend Pat “Deep Dish” Bertelliti who obliged us and this meal. We sat on the outdoor terrace which was so romantic with an open fire, dimmed lighting and a lovely garden. The service was exceptional and the plates were presented to us with an almost fairytale description. We share a highlight from this restaurant, The Duck Liver Tarte. Easily the best pate to ever hit my tongue- Katherine.

BARCELONA SPAIN
This very special place came as a recommendation from my old friend Chef Rob Rossi (Giulietta, TO). We went back four times on our short trip to Barcelona. Right off La Rambla, Bar Cañete quite frankly gave us everything we love in a dining experience. The bar was the centrepiece of this long and narrow restaurant- and that’s exactly where we like to be. We ordered as much as we could possibly eat: Sweetbreads & Prawns, Suckling Pig, Veal Cheek, Squid Sandwich, Octopus….We even had the Tiramisu which was amazing- and that is a lot coming from a couple that typically orders another round of crudo for dessert. We literally cant say enough about this place. If you are in Barcelona, close to Barcelona YOU MUST!!! We got lucky, but, reservations are recommended;)

BARCELONA SPAIN
A sprawling indoor culinary arena siloed with many unique mini-restaurants. We enjoyed sipping wine at the bar while the bartender shaved plates of Iberian Ham off the leg displayed on the bar.

On a lovely day at Barcelonetta Beach we visited La Cova Fumada- a gritty, authentic local hangout where the highlight is fresh seafood presented in a true Catalonian style. DOnt expect a private table, fancy table service or to browse their website to choose your meal ahead- you get what’s fresh and whatever they’re cooking;)
