So retro, but still so cool. Shrimp cocktail was born in the 80’s and so was I so maybe that’s why it’s that cold appie that I always go back to. I’ll be honest, I will even settle for a shrimp ring if I’m at someone else’s party. BUT, if you really want to impress yourself, your loved one, your guests, whomever it may be, please watch. Steam time 6 minutes
Special tools sauce pot & veggie steamer
Ingredients
1 lb black tiger 8-12 count shrimp (peeled and deveined)
3 lemons sliced
1 cup Gnarly Head Chardonnay
1 bunch fresh parsley
2 tablespoons grated fresh horseradish
5 splashes worcestershire
1 lemon zest and juice
1/2 cup ketchup
1 splash gin
Place sliced lemons in a stock pot and cover with white wine. Bring up to a simmer.
Place shrimp on an old school veggie steamer and place over lemons. Cover the pot and steam for 6 minutes.
Remove and place shrimp in the fridge to cool.
In a small bowl, mix ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire, lemon zest and juice. Chop parsley and toss into sauce finish with gin.
Place in a old school champagne glass and refrigerate
Plate in a large bowl with ice, parsley and cocktail sauce.
